Adriana was the key note speaker on Women's Health/Fitness at a spanish-only conference, "Regala 2013".
She recalls," I loved being able to share my story in order to help other women put themselves as a priority. As a mother, female business owner, and fitness competitor, I understand that life gets busy. I spoke on how I made that life transition and developed principles that helped me realize in every department of my life."
She explained the emotional aspect of having strength, from moving out of her house at a young age to the tenacity of being the first of in my family to go to college & start/operate her own business.
She takes pride in giving back to the community. She attributes her success to role models that believed in her. She was inspired by seeing educated women of color go to school, build up their community, & literally make changes in her small town. She recalls, "I listened to other Latino leaders share how they managed to go to school without money, educate themselves, and are really living the life they always wanted. I needed to see those types of role models because when I was young I didn't have anyone that went to college and pursue their dreams directly in my family. My mother struggled to raise 8 kids on her own. We didn't speak much about the future on the account of having to worry about how we were going to make it through the winter months. Now its time to give back."

Last month Adriana spoke at the Latina Empowerment Summit, an event created to inspire latina women to pursue career, education, or life goals. Here is a small excerpt from her speech:
"... I know that you all have a story. I am you, and we are here to inspire each other, to use each other, give and receive. Para dale ganas! I’m good at what I do because I see myself in every one one of my clients. When I push them, I understand what it’s like to have those genes. I have to spend 12 weeks out on the year eating really strict for what I want, my dreams... a pro card, I care about what I do because I love it. I like good food so it better be worth it now. I get up at 5am because I want to, not because I have to anymore. I look up to those that have similar backgrounds but have disciplined themselves enough to create the habit of taking care of yourself and continue to practice self care.

Had the opportunity to speak to the Association of Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting about the importance of taking care of their health as busy women in the work force. I spend a lot of time breaking down marketing campaigns that have built up the diet industry but the facts always remain the same: Nearly seven out of ten Latino adults are over weight or obese, struggle with high cholesterol and 33% of persons under 65 years are without health insurance coverage. We will eventually end up paying for these issues. I'd rather help individuals pay for it preventive and create good habits for their children now and break the cycle.
